ABSTRACT
This article presents a comparison of the principles of war followed by the U.S. army, with an aim to provide a perspective on Operation Iraqi Freedom. The U.S. principles of war have been refined into a list of nine elements that form the basis for planning, evaluating, and executing politico-military strategy. The principles serve as a useful guide for initially assessing what has come to be called Gulf War II. The article presents an overview of the objective and strategy of the U.S. military campaign.
