ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the rugby football match played between New Zealand Warriors and Canterbury Bulldogs at Ericsson Stadium. For three-quarters of the match, it had an all-too-familiar ring about it to the Newcastle match seven days before. And that's what made it so nerve-wracking for Warriors fans. Dominate from the outset and score a couple of early tries, struggle with the goalkicking, allow the visitors to storm back, score a try through Lance Hohaia just after the break to create a small cushion, then concede one going into the final 20. When it mattered, the Warriors' online defense, so fragile the week before, held firm. The forwards never wilted. And Canterbury didn't have an Andrew Johns. Bulldogs five-eighth Braith Anasta is a fine talent and played well, but lost on points to his opposite Lance Hohaia. The pair met in Wellington two years ago when the Junior Kiwis played the Junior Kangaroos, and Anasta and his team were both clear winners. But in this crucial fixture, Hohaia partnered Stacey Jones brilliantly in the halves for the Warriors, scoring two more tries following his brace against Newcastle.
