ABSTRACT
The article explores the insecurity at the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) border in Texas. It discusses border vulnerability due to the limited number of Border patrol agents, their shift changes and the practice of illegal immigrants to allow agents to take them into custody for processing. It mentions the rise in illegal crossings at the RGV to an average of 5,834.5 apprehensions per week that include special interest aliens (SIAs), Other Than Mexicans (OTMs) and unaccompanied minor children (UMC).
