States that half of California voters remain opposed to gay marriages, according to a Field Poll released August 29, 2003. Percentage of voters who support domestic partnership laws granting same-sex couples legal recognition and rights; Percentage of voters age 65 and up who oppose gay marriage; California Senate's approval of a bill that would give legal rights to gay and lesbian couples.
