ABSTRACT
Following step with a dozen other Chinese cities, preteen students in the Chinese capital recently started sex education courses. All newly enrolled middle-school students at nine schools in Beijing's Haidian District will receive sex education, while their teachers receive training on sex instruction. The program will be expanded to another 200 Haidian middle schools during the year. The move to start sex education is "urgent," officials say. According to China's Population and Family Planning Law, schools are required to offer sex education.
