ABSTRACT
The Samburu landscape of rich savannah and acacia grassland habitats is a stronghold for the endangered Gravy's zebra, but 90 percent of the land falls outside protected areas. One can help the organization Earthwatch Institute's new Samburu Conservation Research Initiative explore how an unprotected Grevy's zebra population uses habitat on Samburu community lands and compare it to habitat use within Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. One can work with researchers Paul Muoria, Joseph Kirathe, Daniel Rubenstein and Nick Oguge to determine the population status and habitat needs of Grevy's zebras.
