ABSTRACT
Populations of green turtles, like all sea turtles, are in trouble as of January 2004. In Malaysia, egg harvesting from beach nest sites has reduced the turtles' population by 60 percent in just 50 years. Kamarruddin Ibrahim, chief officer for a Malaysian sea turtle research and monitoring program, wants to stop that decline and reverse the trend. He and project advisor Joan Whittier need help to monitor green turtle nesting on the Malaysian peninsula to understand how environmental conditions affect nesting success.
