ABSTRACT
The article refers to a survey by Russell Reynolds Associates Inc. and focuses on the relationship between management executives and corporate boards. The study indicated that only 12 percent of major American public corporations put their own chief financial officer (CFO) on their boards. A trend suggests that outside directors are preferred with the possible exception of putting a company's chief executive officer (CEO) on the board. CFOs are expected to have a close working relationship with the CEO and the board while serving the organization's best interests. Maryanne Peabody of Stybel Peabody and Associates and Neil Wester of Kolene Corp. offer their views on the role of CFOs. INSET: Table Hopping..
