ABSTRACT
Los Angeles, California designer Xorin Balbes creates extraordinary homes and shares his wealth by hosting parties for gay causes. When he discovered in 1984 that he was HIV-positive, Balbes decided to reevaluate his life and spent nine years traveling the world. On returning, he discovered a passion for renovating houses. His residence reflects his openness, combining the ancient and the new. Balbes opens his house to host fund-raisers for organizations like Project Angel Food and the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. He is also founder of Global Vision for Peace. Balbes recently signed a book deal he says will show people how to create a home that nurtures and supports.
