ABSTRACT
This article presents an argument that immigration restrictions in the United States must be enforced. Illegal immigration places an enormous strain on America's resources and threatens national security. Uncontrolled, illegal immigration puts a damper on infrastructure, creates job shortages, overcrowds schools and costs American taxpayers billions of dollars annually. The U.S. government needs to enforce restrictions on immigration through increased border patrol and deportations of known illegal immigrants. Illegal immigration undermines the legal immigration policies of the U.S., and makes a mockery of the patience and sacrifices made by those attempting to immigrate through legal means. Illegal immigrants sneak into the U.S. without any tracking or documentation, and unlike most legal immigrants, often have no formal education or specific job skill that would make them productive members of the work force. Immigration, when controlled and limited, can benefit the U.S. in many ways, however, the number of illegal immigrants entering the country increases each year, and they are continuing to receive benefits such as free health care and education. The U.S. needs to end its politically correct coddling of illegal immigrants, enforce immigration laws and work toward making the country safer and more secure.
