Deloitte has defeated PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) to the post as the firm with the most influence in Great Britain's top boardrooms, as reflected in the Big Four survey conducted by 'Accountancy' magazine in 2004. The survey found that there are more Deloitte alumni on the boards of the Financial Times Stock Exchange 100 (FTSE 100) than that of any other firm. The finding reflects changes in the constituents of FTSE 100, as well as Deloitte's growth and the amalgamation of many Andersen partners. Ian Kruger, Deloitte's senior partner, expressed delight at how well the firm's alumni are doing. PwC managing partner Rodger Hughes, however, argued that the survey results at any one time would be down to the luck of the draw. The survey also found that nearly a fifth of the FTSE 100 companies are audited by the old firm of the finance director, CEO, or executive chairman. This reveals very little change since 2003, despite scrutiny of such relationships.
