ABSTRACT
This article discusses business ethics in American corporations. The increasing pressure for short-term profits can compromise ethical considerations. The author argues that ethics must be embedded into the corporate culture so that it is transmitted to new employees. He contends that large, unearned compensation packages are inherently unethical. He recommends every business have a written code of ethics that must be applied equally and consistently and that good ethics will result in good business.
