ABSTRACT
The article reports that a 5 million pound government grant will safeguard 735 jobs at a factory in Halewood, Great Britain. Specialist gearbox manufacturer Getrag Ford Transmissions has been offered the Selective Finance for Investment in England (SFIE) grant towards its 115 million pound investment project to manufacture a new six-speed transmission system. The SFIE scheme has an emphasis on productivity and skills. The project has been secured for Halewood in the face of strong European competition.
