Bank of America takes Australia's Newcrest to private market

The article reports that Bank of America Securities LLC has launched a private placement for Newcrest Mining Ltd. Based in Melbourne, Victoria, Newcrest explores, develops and operates mines. Sources said the issuer is seeking between $150 million to $200 million in senior notes, likely in seven-year and ten-year bullets. Newcrest's strategy is focused on large, long life operations or small, high margin projects and it is primarily focused on gold projects. However, in its pursuit of this precious commodity, Newcrest subsequently struck copper and has a large copper endowment, according to corporate information.
