ABSTRACT
Presents the results of separate public opinion polls conducted by Zogby and by Bellwether and Lake, Snell, Perry regarding the opening of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) in Alaska for oil exploration. Percentage of registered voters in the U.S. who favored opening the refuge if it would reduce dependence of the country on foreign oil based on the survey of Bellwether; Portion of respondents in the Bellwether poll who believed that drilling in the ANWR will not reduce foreign dependence on oil; Ratio of respondents who believe that drilling in ANWR will have significant environmental impact.
