Demier named to Cannes post

The article reports that Catherine Demier has been named managing director of the Festival de Cannes. Demier, general secretary of France's Cour des Comptes, will begin her duties with the festival on October 10, this year. She replaces Veronique Cayla, who was appointed head of state-funding body the Center National de la Cinematographic in June, after managing the festival since 2000. A graduate of France's prestigious Ecole Nationale d'Administration, Demier brings a mix of administrative and cultural experience and high-level political contacts to the job.
