The article presents information on AIDS Help West, a group of volunteers taking care of those infected with HIV/AIDS. Five years after it opened, AIDS Help West received its first state funding. The organisation continued to develop and expand and in 2001 the name changed to AIDS West. The group offers regular respite weekends with workshops and therapies to those who are HIV positive. This gives participants an opportunity to meet other people who are HIV positive in a relaxing and confidential setting.
