ABSTRACT
The article reports that "The Chronicle of Higher Education," has launched "Academe This Week," a free electronic service on the Internet. In the first week of its launch, nearly 9,300 people used the journal, doing more than 50,000 searches and retrieving close to 32,000 files. They included users in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Cuba, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Norway, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Great Britain and Venezuela. "The Chronicle of Higher Education," is the first major periodical to offer portions of its editorial contents, along with extensive listings of job openings, on the Internet.
