ABSTRACT
The article discusses results of a survey of interests which high school students have in drama for entertainment in the United States. The survey respondents were from the eleventh-grade English class of Philadelphia Springfield High School. The survey concludes that there is little dispute that acquainting high school students with the vast and wonderful world of the theater, arousing interest, and establishing the habit of theater-going are favorable but necessary tasks. The teacher must be well grounded and knowledgeable about the theater, must know the pupils, and must use a number of avenues to achieve the goal of dramatic literacy. Furthermore, the playwright, the actor, and the audience are interdependent.
