ABSTRACT
The article presents information on the flag received by the Twelfth Texas Cavalry Regiment on December 29, 1861. The color of the flag features common Texas-made characteristics in that it lacks the white fimbriation or edging on the blue Saint Andrew's Cross but includes a large, central star. The flag measures 34 x 42 inches. Early in the war, the use of company flags was very popular and it is possible that this flag was associated with Company K. The flag is on display at the Colonel Harold B. Simpson Confederate Research Center of Hill College in Hillsboro, Texas.
