ABSTRACT
The article features a battle flag of an unknown regiment of Texas Confederates. Discovered in 1994 near Nacogdoches, Texas, this short, 34 1/2 x 32-inch silk flag was considered to be a square variation of what normally should have been a rectangular flag. There are other features that are clearly unusual about the color of the flag. While the blue silk cross is fairly typical with appliqué stars, the red field of the canton is not a field at all but four triangles of red silk sewn onto the white main field.
