ABSTRACT
This article presents information about the appointment of formerly retired General Montgomery Meigs to lead the counter-improvised-explosives office to help Americans in Iraq defend themselves against roadside bombs and to improve how it fights irregular wars. Meigs has had military success in the 1991 Gulf War and in a peacekeeping assignment in Bosnia. Meigs should inject some new ideas into the fight against Iraqi insurgents.
