A Pilot Study of the Immediate Effectiveness of the Frostig-Horne Training Program with Educable Retardates

The article reports on a study of the response of a group of educable retardates of the Hope School for Mentally Retarded Children to the Frostig-Horne training program for developing visual perception. It is assumed that educable retardates can improve specific visual perceptual skills with this program. It was found out that Frostig-Horne visual perception training materials can enhance retardates' skills in making figure ground discrimination, valuing figure constancy and dealing with spatial relations. The program has also resulted to perceptible improvement in various perceptual abilities. Regardless of some limitations, the results justify the effectiveness of the program.
