The article reports on the expansion of the dual-clutch technology in Europe. In late 2005, BorgWarner Inc. broke ground on a factory at its site near Tulle, France, to build more of its Dual Clutch Transmission, and in summer 2005, the Getrag Ford Transmissions GmbH joint venture invested in a plant in Slovakia that will begin making dual-clutch transmissions under a BorgWarner license. The system appeals to drivers who want sporty control, as the system permits seamless manual shifting and full-automatic mode.
