ABSTRACT
The article looks at the U.S. budget cuts for alternative fuels. Even though U.S. president George W. Bush has promised more federal dollars for renewable energy, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) operates with a tight budget at a time when consumers are facing record-high prices for fossil fuels. The NREL is the United States' premier center for research into wind, solar, and ethanol energy. The article explores Bush's vow to increase energy funding and NREL's projects.
