The article focuses on the adoption of the single-sex education in schools across the U.S. in hopes of boosting achievement. But general expectations in most classrooms, that students will raise their hands, work cooperatively, ask for help, and refrain from disruption, are easier for most girls than boys to meet. Another concern is the possibility that single-sex programs may enshrine stereotypes.
