ABSTRACT
This article comments on the debate between evolutionary theorists and creationists over the narrative of Genesis 1 and 2. It reports on a federal judge's ruling that prohibited the proponents of intelligent design in the Dover, Pennsylvania school district to present their viewpoint in biology classes because they advocated religion, not science. The author comments on the damages that literalistic and selective interpretation of the Bible has done over the centuries.
