ABSTRACT
The article discusses the implications of fragmenting the media marketplace and viewer choice for the direct response television industry in the United States. It cites the Federal Communications Commission's ever-changing opinion on breaking up cable provider's way of packaging networks in favor of more specific channel choices for consumers, an issue facing direct response media buyers. Media buyers should take advantage of video-on-demand, podcasting, and high-definition television channel as a means of offering products to a more targeted demographic group.
