ABSTRACT
This article presents insights into the issue of ascertaining the safety of high school industrial arts students in secondary school shops in the U.S. Physical provisions include safety devices on industrial equipment, lines painted on the shop floor around dangerous machines, traffic regulations within the shop, proper illumination with natural or artificial light, and locking off all electric power in the shop. Several high schools compensate students who were injured in accidents attributed to the negligence of the school.
