This article focuses on the search in the Gaza Strip for Isreali solider, Corporal Gilad Shalit, abducted by Palestinian militants. The subsequent Isreali raid against Hamas is also seen as a message to the Palestinian leadership and an attempt to smash Hamas. The Isreali strategy may shatter hopes for the Middle East peace process.
