ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the people in Russia's interest in vegetarianism. Accordingly, the Soviet regime has considered vegetarianism as a pseudoscientific and bourgeois theory that contravened Soviet ideology, and they had persecuted followers of vegetarian lifestyles. It was in 1901 when the first vegetarian society opened in Saint Petersburg and nine other vegetarian society were founded that carried out a variety of activities.
