ABSTRACT
The article reports on the decision of U.S. House Republicans to approve the Senate's move to add $1.8 billion in new spending for border security to the fiscal 2007 Homeland Security appropriations bills. The added funding is aimed to appease voters in the absence of a comprehensive immigration reform package. It would fund new fencing and vehicle barriers along the southern U.S. border.
