The article presents a positive opinion of the online encyclopedia Wikipedia and its effect on education. The author argues that wiki technology allows students to develop their critical thinking skills. Due to the fact that wikis employ open source software, detractors argue that it cannot be considered an authoritative reference source; however, examinations of Wikipedia's content have shown that quality is on par with other reference sources.
