ABSTRACT
The article reports on the implications of the decision of U.S. President George W. Bush to veto the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act of 2005, which would have increased the supply and quality of human embryonic stem cell lines that can be used in federally funded research. The decision was influenced by a bipartisan congressional and public support.
