ABSTRACT
The article discusses a study by the Australian Council of Super Investors that reveals that chief executive pay packets have escalated by 73% in the last five years. This outstrips the 43% return earned by shareholders in the same period. According to the study, only the best stock market performance outperformed that of chief executive officer's pay. BHP Billiton outdid the market by 44.8%, while boss Chip Goodyear's pay escalated by just 15%.
