ABSTRACT
The article presents information on issues related to the substitution of animal insulin with the synthetic one. The selling of animal insulin has been terminated in the U.S. from April 1, 2006, and synthetic human insulin, produced by recombinant-DNA technology, have entered the markets. Patients complain that synthetic insulin is not good for their health whereas doctors claim that it is the gold standard for treating Type 1 diabetes.
