ABSTRACT
The article discusses efforts by black leaders to inform the African-American community in the United States about AIDS. Because more than half of all new HIV and AIDS diagnoses in the United States are among African-Americans, awareness is becoming more and more widespread amongst influential members of the community. The National Minority AIDS Council is attempting to address the pandemic through presentations to the United States Congress and community outreach programs that are run by HIV-positive youth.
