ABSTRACT
The article reports on the role of health data in drug development as the U.S. pharmaceutical industry faces serious financial challenges. It has been noted that pharmaceutical companies is rethinking new drug developments and marketing strategies in response to a health care system that is moving towards a consumer-directed care model. The industry is designing studies of health economic and patient-reported outcomes to give consumers with evidence of the economic value of their products.
