ABSTRACT
The article reports on offshore drilling fleet utilization around the world. In the US Gulf of Mexico, offshore rig fleet utilization has been increasing toward 90% supply wherein 119 of the 139 available rigs have contracts but none of the idle units are available for immediate work resulting to 100% rig utilization. Meanwhile, rig utilization demand in Central America, South America, and the Caribbean Sea continues to exceed supply. In Asia and Australia region, mobile offshore rig utilization is 95% experiencing surpluses and shortages in rig supply. Rig utilization in Caspian Sea, Black Sea, West Africa and other regions are also discussed.
