ABSTRACT
This article discusses a website called Club Penguin where kids live second lives masquerading as chubby aquatic birds. This Internet club has mesmorized elementary school children across North America. The club provides a virtual meeting site for 8-14 year olds. Sophisticated provisions filter anything that looks like an e-mail address, a phone number or profanity. Critics say that these websites are designed to upset the natural balance of life.
