ABSTRACT
This article reports on a mandate from U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB) which requires federal agencies to align their Window-based systems with a set of secure configuration guidelines. A memo was spent by the OMB to federal chief information officers to remind them the deadline for the compliance in XP and Vista machines. The guidelines were developed by organizations, including Microsoft.
