ABSTRACT
The article reports on the concerns of general practitioners (GPs) over the results of the survey on access to surgeries from the British Department of Health (DH). The findings of four of the survey questions will be used to identify direct enhanced service (DES) payments to GPs. According to Laurence Buckman, deputy chairman of the General Practitioners Committee (GPC), GPs feared that the survey would serve as a government weapon to exploit the health care sector.
