ABSTRACT
The article reports on the plan of the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine to issue bonds to fund embryonic stem cell research in the state. The proceeds of the first sale of the bond will be used to repay the loans made by the institute during the lawsuits and to fund more research grants. The 1st District Court of Appeal and state Supreme Court ruled in favor of the program which is opposed by pro-life and taxpayer groups. The reasons behind the opposition to the program are cited.
