The article focuses on a study, initiated by the French government, to study potential risks of reactivity accidents in pressurized water reactors (PWR) used by nuclear power producers. The French regulatory agency Institut de Radioprotection et de Sûreté Nucléaire (IRSN) performed a series of tests using a pressurized water loop to verify the safety of nuclear fuel rods. This environment exposes all types of instrumentation to extreme conditions, including flowmeters subjected to severe pressure spikes, high temperatures, and extreme hydraulic shock loads inside the test device.
