ABSTRACT
The article reports on the testimonies of marine geochemist Scott Doney and marine policy specialist Porter Hoagland filed before the U.S. Congress. In one testimony written by Doney last May 2007 and addressed to the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation's Subcommittee on Oceans, Atmosphere, Fisheries, and Coast Guard, he warns that climate change and acidification trends will further accelerate over the years and these can only be resolved by curbing greenhouse emissions. On the other hand, a testimony of Hoagland filed before the U.S. House of Representatives' Subcommittee on Fisheries, Wildlife, and Oceans and Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources Committee on Natural Resources has elaborated the issue of ocean space.
