This article examines the difficulties of teaching science in U.S. public schools. Battles between religious groups and evolution supporters have turned science education into a lawsuit. The author fears that these court actions and high emotions will only frustrate and turn away potential scientists. The author examines how Kansas redefined the term science to enable the teaching of intelligent design. Advice on what teachers can do to teach science in light of the legal challenges is offered.
