ABSTRACT
The article reports on a study of the reliability of state's educational proficiency standards in the U.S. Researchers from the Northwest Evaluation Association analyzed 26 states' student results and compared state benchmarks to the Measures of Academic Progress percentile scales for mathematics and reading. Results indicate inconsistencies among states. Information on various state's requirements and reporting for the No child Left Behind Act's Adequate Yearly Progress requirement is included.
