ABSTRACT
The article discusses the different renewables for utility planning. As of November 2007, 24 states and the District of Columbia set standards requiring electricity providers to get a certain percentage of their power from renewables beginning a target date. In 2006, wind power capacity in the U.S. grew by 27% making it the fastest-growing in the world. The U.S. solar energy industry is also growing. Biomass on the other hand is the country's largest nonhydro renewable electricity source.
