ABSTRACT
The article discusses the marketing of butanol as a biofuel for automobiles. Butanol is being combined with gasoline to provide a cleaner energy source for motor vehicles. Energy company BP is running a pilot program in England to gauge consumer reaction to butanol. Currently, butanol is more difficult to produce than ethanol, another corn-based biofuel, but BP has enlisted DuPont scientists to develop a hardier microbe for the fermentation process.
