ABSTRACT
The article discusses legislative updates for the U.S. A final rule amending regulations applicable to the licensing of new nuclear power plants was issued on August 28, 2007 by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). To enhance controls for radioactive materials used in industry, academia, and medicine, NRC issued a final rule implementing a national source tracking system (NSTS) in November 2006. A final rule on design basis threat for nuclear power plants was issued by the NRC in March 2007.
